Celebrex

Celebrex (celecoxib) was approved by the FDA in 1998 to relieve the symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, painful menstrual cycles and to reduce the number of colorectal polyps in adults. Celebrex belongs to a class of NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) known as COX-2 inhibitors. Some other well-known COX-2 inhibitors include Bextra, Vioxx (rofecoxib), and Arcoxia (etoricoxib).

Celebrex has been linked to an increase in the risk of blood, clots, liver damage, high blood pressure, bleeding ulcers, kidney failure, heart attacks, strokes, and even sudden death. In some cases it has been learned that Celebrex's manufacturer, Pharmacia, failed to disclose all of its research data.
